by the end of 2014 i stumbled across a record no. 125 hand drill on the internet while researching record planes... ever since then i wanted to have one of these drills. but are they ever hard to find! on a more than regular basis i searched ebay and the internet for a drill like this. nothing. never. for 8 years!...

brand new planes... not really my thing, but when i found these on ebay, i was absolutely stunned! they come from china, according to the seller lanxiaoge they are hand made, they are beautiful and very well made! even the irons are sharp upon arrival so that one can happily start using them! compared to the high end...

i already had a millers falls no. 5 hand drill for a while, but then i found one on ebay that didn't state a number, only a patent date on the chuck "september 29th, 1896". after some research i came to the conclusion that it must be a millers falls no. 3 drill, so i bought it.

i found this rusty old record no. 52 vice on ebay. it is approximately 90 years old and telling by the way it looked after it arrived from the uk, it never got any attention/cleaning/whatsoever. so i took it apart and started derusting it. my dremel did a fantastic job, i used the cleaning & polishing abrasive buffs...

I use hand planes. and i also collect them:-) there is actually a technical term for this: rhykenology
